Wah this is my 3rd post for today.. so many things to update..

After getting to know my neighbour.. went to meet Fio then Dennis.. all 3 of us so hungry we went to eat Mac first.. yum yum

Today, he go through once again with us any changes and updates.. so that we'll get a clearer picture.. Cos we might have forgot along the way.. and we also add this and that.. change this and that..

Better stop looking at any more ID magazines.. cos the more we see the more ideas we get.. the more changes we make.. the more headache Dennis get also.. haha.. no lar..

What matters is he must also work happily with us.. i believe in getting the job done and also building a friendship with my ID as well.. cos if we keep changing, it'll put him in a diff spot also..

So far he has been patient with us.. and not demanding or pushy..

He went through in detail.. down to every inch in measurement.. how high or low for this and that.. also re-selected some new laminates for the shoe cabinet and settee.. and tv console.. and explained to him in detail our platform bed with table.. (i made a paper model to let him visualise how the table can be pulled out from the platform).. cool eh.. as long he understand can le..
And also the colour of the walls..

Still thinking what we should do for the flooring of our foyer.. heard some negative comment on pebble wash.. as long term it'll trap dust and the pebbles might drop off after time.. Dennis suggest we get black shiny tiles.. gotta go down to tiles shop to have a look..

We discussed till quite late from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.. wow.. we felt rather bad to let him stay till so late.. all his colleagues already left.. but it was a fruitful discussion as we got a clearer pic..

Got to know my neighbour

Just as i was abt to pack up, Elson, our friendly neighbour from another level drop by our unit.. had a chat with him.. he gave me few tips on what to look out for.

Just then our neighbour, this time from the same level happened to take the lift and saw my door wide open.. decided to drop by.. Welcome!! But nothing much, cos the tiles are covered with protective paper.. only see the war torn area..

Anyway, they in turn invite us to see their flat, which is 98% completed.. they will be shifting in this sat.. cool.. Cant wait for mine to be completed too..

Nice young couple.. Hello Joshua and XinHui.. if i do remember their names correctly.. hee..

Hacking of wall at last..

Rain the whole afternoon.. thats y laze at home.. Only went up to see the reno in the late afternoon..

When i reached the place.. ,

I thought its on the 30th as told by HDB ytd.. anyway the earlier the better.. heard from the workers who did the flooring, a guy and a girl came and took some pics and left.. i guess should be the PE.. just need their signature only cost me $430.. wah seh.. easy money for them, to earn.. also easy money for me, to loose..

Seems like WW3 just occured in my house.. my walls been hacked full clean.. leaving so many debris and rumble crumble..

Finally.. The Great Wall has crumbled..

It feels like im in a warzone, a mine just went off.. boom!! and there goes my wall.. and money together as well* ps - hacking of wall need PE fee, hacking works, seal up the other wall, install new doorframe, plaster seal the uneven frame etc..

As my new door will be left swing.. and my existing door is right swing.. so there's a problem here.. No worries.. one of my neighbours, i knew from renotalk has a left swing door..

The very heavy door.. but mine is right swing.. i need a left swing now

Went to collect the door.. carried it all by myself.. its very heavy and bulky.. thank god we were from the same block only different floors.. and both our unit near the lift.. whew..

Now another problem is that her door is from the toilet, so there is no lock and key kind of handle.. Again no worries.. i already got that solved.. all i have to do is to exchange the lock with my existing door lor.. Genius right!! HAHA..

The new door i collected has no keyhole.. How?

Dun worry.. with the help of 1 screwdriver and allen key..

Just unscrew the keyhole from my existing door.. And fix it to the left swing door.. there it is..

A screw driver and allen key shall do the job.. and.. Ta Dah!! I've got a left swing door with lock.. yeah.. hee..

Also, the cement screeding was done up for bedroom 2 and 3..

Flooring works began..

Look at my messy kitchen..

Hmm.. saw my homogeneous tiles.. Almost forgot how my tiles look like cos the last time i went to choose was in Apr.. Seems like when i saw in the shop was much more shiny.. Now i see in my house looks dull.. Maybe due to the lighting at the shop..

haiYAh.. HDB arh HDB.. Why havent approve to hack the wall..

Im still waiting leh..

Because must wait for the wall to be hacked, the flooring for the passageway cannot be done yet.. At first the workers wants to do the whole house but since passageway cannot be done, they almost didnt wanna do..
Luckily Dennis told them to do the Living/Dining area.. Some other day then do the passageway..

Discuss some changes with Dennis to be made along the way.. then i asked him: "eh.. is this blue and red wire supposed to be the switch..?

When he saw it:"Hai, these workers very Ge Yan.. where got ppl place the switch so low.." He told me the workers did wrong height.. He'll rectify..

I think the workers thot its the switch for TV..

Anyway, the flooring works start..

Just some wild thot, tried asking if the tiles to be placed diagonally, but Dennis told me workmanship would be doubled.. and the excess tiles when they cut will be wasted.. ooh.. ok so better stick to the straight layout.. Hee

Wow.. raise the floor by so thick..Did an angle cut.. cool huh

When i showed Fio, the pics i took this morning, she was curious how the flooring works was done.. She saw water and sand and told me: "orh.. so water plus sand = cement"

I was like dunno to faint or laugh first.. but replied: "eh like that everytime rain, East Coast and Sentosa beach will become cement le.." Hee..

Anyway, told her on top of sand also got some other materials - mixture of sand, water, cement and some got white powdery stuff...

In between, i went to HDB to press them for the approval for the hacking of wall.. Cos i just cant get through their line..

After much perseverance, i manage to hunt down the person in-charge. They told me they would arrange for the person to come down earliest is 30 May.. ok.. at least i got an answer..

Dad came to view my reno.. and i showed him ard the neighbourhood.. and also the HDB habitat forum.. Show him how HDB flats look like nowadays.. and how they design it..

When we returned, the tiles were all up.. and the worker is just cleaning it.. wow..

Done.. the concrete slabs are used as weights.. looks rather unsightly.. Fio and me felt that it looked like.. er u know i know.. dun wanna say much.. in case touch wood..

Dennis did mention that suspended cabinet do not have a cabinet base at the bottom... Hmm.. i wonder if it is sturdy enuff.. scared i rest my hand on the cabinet and the whole thing collapsed..

Work commences!! - Day 1 & 3 ..

Yeahh.. work finally started on tues, 21May. Woooohooo.. cant wait for it to be done soon!!

Went to have a look at the progress of the reno.. there was only one electrician to run the whole lighting points. He's quite skillful, by 4pm.. all the lighting points are done up. Pro loh...

Today, the false ceiling will be up.. Always wonder how a false ceiling is being fixed up. There are 2 workers.. Guess one of them is the sub-con who lias with my ID. Both from M'sia as their accent were pretty strong. Quite friendly and easy-going.. funny guys who like to joke and sing.

Dennis did came up to have a look. Update me some of the stuffs.. I'm still waiting for the wall to be hacked. According to Dennis, the HDB is the one delaying it.. we already found a PE le.. Hurry up HDB!!

Went home then suddenly realised that there is no gap at the false ceiling in the MBR for our curtain. Faster called up Dennis to tell him.. He said he will rectify it..

As scheduled, today the whole false ceiling and L-Box will be up.. Went to see in the morning.. indeed the worker made a L shape space.

Returned in the evening around 5pm plus.. and the workers are still doing.. wow.. they must have had a long day.. 95% of the ceiling works done. A little more touch up. Even the partition is up and i requested for a partition head (circled in red).. But i guess they'll do another day..

Next week will commence on the flooring.. Hope the guy in charge of hacking the wall turns up. I dun wanna drag this any longer..
